Poppyseed Cake


INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 1/2 glass of flour
  • 3/4 glass of semolina ( I got it in Polish shop-it's called "Kasza manna" )
  • 1 glass of sugar
  • 1/2 pocket of butter
  • 2 1/2 tsp of baking powder
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 yolks

Poppyseed Mass:
  • 1 can of poppyseed mass-850 g  ( this one is also from Polish shop and looks like this:)
  • 2 egg whites
  • 2 tbsp of crumbs (optionally)
  • baking paper
DESCRIPTION:
  1. Prepare a medium bowl and fill it with flour,baking powder,semolina and sugar,add eggs,yolks and melted butter. Knead smooth dough-add more flour if the dough is too sticky but not too much. Take a little bit less than 3/4 of dough and put it on the baking tray covered with baking paper.
  2. Whip egg whites and mix them carefully with poppyseed mass. Spread it on the dough in the tray and cover with the rest of dough. Bake in the oven preheated to 180C for about an hour. Decorate with icing or with caster sugar.
